How do I set up my campaign?

How to set up a new video campaign

You've created an advertiser account with us, and now you are ready to set up a campaign to promote that awesome video you have on YouTube. Let's set up a video campaign.

1. Log in to your dashboard.

2. If this is your first campaign with us, then you'll automatically see the screen below. You can also get to this screen by clicking on PROMOTE VIDEO in the menu bar. Enter the title or link URL of your video on YouTube into the field provided. Click on Search.

3. You will see a list of videos. The following page should look like the screenshot below. Select the video you want to promote.


4. You will be taken to the Design Your Campaign page. 


Our system will automatically extract information from your YouTube video and fill in the necessary fields, but you may need to do some editing or re-writing. To design your campaign, you will need to fill in the following fields:

Campaign name is not viewable to the public and is for your eyes only.

Campaign headline is the title of your video that is viewable to the public. 

Video Description should be a short one-line description of your video or campaign. Only 80 characters will be immediately visible when your campaign is shown to viewers, so keep that in mind as you are coming up with a catchy description. Our description for this video reads: See how this powerful invention, Virool is changing the world. 

Banner allows you to optimize your campaign for likes and comments, subscribers, Facebook shares, and more. You can also create a custom banner and enter your own custom URL. Click here to learn more. 

5. Once you're finished with that part, scroll down to the targeting phase of your campaign. The default setup allows you to target by Ad Placements and Countries.


Click on ActivView and Advanced targeting if you want more options for targeting.

Ad Placements allows you to select between ViewSurge and ActivView. You can select any or all of the options shown.

The Countries field is automatically set to a global audience. This means that your campaign will be shown to viewers from all over the world. If you want to select certain countries, enter those countries here.

Under Categories, select the option(s) that best describes your campaign type.

In the Keywords field, you can enter terms appropriate to your video or campaign. Hit "enter" or "return" on your keyboard to make sure each term shows up as individual keywords instead of one long phrase.

Under Gender, select your option. The default is set to All. De-select the box to target specific genders.

And finally, target your audience based on age in the Ages field. The default is set to All. De-select the box to target specific age groups. 

6. You're almost finished. Let's scroll down further and set your bid price. You will see the screen below.

This is where you decide how much you want to pay each viewer to watch your video. Remember that we charge you only if each view engagement lasts 30 seconds or longer.

Set your budget for the campaign and decide if you want to run a daily campaign or a lifetime campaign. If you want a daily campaign, select "Per day" from the Budget drop down menu. If you want a lifetime campaign, select "Lifetime" from the drop-down menu.

A daily campaign will have a set budget per day. This type of campaign works well for when you want to gain viewers over time. The campaign will run until the expected number of views are delivered and then it will pause until the following day. It resumes automatically each day until your account funds are exhausted. Be sure to factor in your max bid for an accurate total of how much you will need to deposit into your account, or your campaign may be suspended prematurely.

A lifetime campaign will run all in one setting and works well for when you want to gain viewers quickly. Again, be sure to factor in your max bid to calculate how much funds you need to deposit into your account, or you risk having a suspended campaign.

If you want your campaign to start on a specific day in the future, then click on the +Schedule button. Set your desired run period.

7. When you are finished with designing and targeting your campaign, scroll down to click Create Campaign.

That's it. Now you need to fund your account, and you'll be all set to run your campaign!
