What is Targeting?

In short, targeting is pinpointing the desired audience and putting your advertainment in front of them.

To be more specific, targeting is the utilization of the abundance of data available to us in order to get advertainment in front of the right audience. This could be geographic targeting, based on location; demographic targeting, based on gender and/or age; contextual targeting, based on where the consumer goes online (which websites they visit); or behavioral targeting, based on their online activity.
